Train to Gain

The Train to Gain service helps employers get the right training for their employees. If you’re an employee looking to gain new skills, telling your employer about Train to Gain could be a great way to get started. But there’s also a range of services specially designed to help you further your career through skills.

With the right skills you could add up to £3,000 to your salary every year, according to Learning and Skills Council (LSC) research. And you’ll find that new skills open doors to promotions, new career directions and new experiences.

In Our Hands is an LSC campaign that helps you assess your skills needs and points you to providers who can help you gain valuable skills to further your career. Get advice from In Our Hands for:
• adults
• young people

The In Our Hands campaign helps you get involved in a range of training schemes. Here are a few examples:
• Apprenticeships – keep on learning as you start work – combinations of on-the-job and off-site training to develop relevant practical skills.
• Entry to employment – work-focused courses for young people
• Get on – brush up your maths, literacy and language skills
• Nextstep – face-to-face advice on learning and careers
• National Skills Academy Network Centres of excellence for employer-led skills training, creating courses of direct relevance to different business sectors.
